Aboriginal Health Promotion Conference - Strong Communities, Our Stories
Welcome to the 3rd Aboriginal Health Promotion Conference - Strong Communities, Our Stories will combine with the 2007 WA Health Conference – ‘Getting it Right’ to provide an Indigenous perspective. This conference will concentrate on the key areas of Healthy Indigenous Partnerships, Healthy Indigenous Leadership and Healthy Indigenous Communities.
Integrated health promotion approaches that empower individuals and communities to develop appropriate ways to support healthier lifestyles and address chronic disease prevention will ultimately reduce the disproportionate burden of disease in Aboriginal communities.
The conference will provide an opportunity to share stories and think critically so as to strengthen future Indigenous health promotion development and implementation. Delegates are encouraged to actively participate in the workshop sessions to ensure a broad range of ideas and visions for the future are expressed.
The conference’s workshop format will be of relevance to health workers from metropolitan, rural and remote communities.
- Working Well in Our Communities – motivation and participation.
- Communities Taking Control – finding the answers for moving forward.
- Cycle of Life – preventative health through life stages.
